Layla Scott proved nearly unhittable to visiting Dawson Springs on Friday in Webster County’s 16-0 victory over the Lady Panthers, allowing a single hit with eight strikeouts on the way to her third win of the season.

Raynei Roy’s two-run home run highlighted a six-run first inning, and the Lady Trojans doubled their advantage courtesy of an RBI single by Alyssa Cartwright and Olivia Chandler’s two-run double in the bottom of the second.

Run-scoring singles by Scott and Cartwright and a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch ended things in the third.  Scott finished with two hits and four RBI, Cartwright was 3/3 with three runs driven in, Roy added three RBI, Avery Guill and Chandler pushed two runs across, and Kennedy Warren and Hailey Allen each hit safely twice.

Sophia Johnson took the loss in the circle for the Lady Panthers, allowing 12 earned runs on 11 hits with six walks in two innings.

Dawson Springs slipped to 0-9 ahead of a trip to Heritage Christian Academy on Tuesday.

Webster County improved to 7-10 with a visit from Henderson County scheduled for Monday.
