A former Hopkinsville Tiger and Heritage Christian Academy Warrior picked up his first collegiate win on the mound Thursday. J.J. Thompson pitched three innings in relief as Wright State rallied in the ninth inning to defeat Oakland, 12-5.
Thompson, a freshman for the Raiders earned the win, throwing 3.0 innings of relief. He entered the game in the fourth inning and gave up no runs on just one hit in his three innings on the hill. Thompson struck out two and walked one.
For the season, Thompson has appeared in 14 games, going a total of 22 ⅔ innings. He has 18 strikeouts with an ERA of 3.18.
