Hopkinsville took advantage of 13 walks to turn four hits into a 16-1 victory over visiting Fort Campbell on Friday. The Tigers won their 28th straight in the series dating back to 2012 to improve to 8-6, 2-1 in district play.
Chase Fort’s single was the Tigers’ only hit in a six-run first, and they added seven in the second to put the game away. Ryan Martin singled in a run, Gavin Mitchell doubled to bring in two, and Joshua Embrey II added an RBI single for a 13-0 advantage.
Michael Anderson had both of Fort Campbell’s hits, including an RBI single in the top of the third for the Falcons’ lone run.
Two walks, two hit-by-pitches, and a passed ball allowed the Tigers to tack on three runs in the bottom of the third and end the game.
Embrey II earned the win on the mound, allowing an unearned run on two hits with a walk and five strikeouts. Mitchell and Fort both finished with three RBI, and Embrey II and Ryan Martin each drove in two.
Andren Moore took the loss for the Falcons, surrendering six earned runs on a hit with six walks in two-thirds of an inning.
The Tigers will be looking to extend a three-game winning streak when they make the short trip to face Heritage Christian Academy on Saturday.
