A late-game rally came up just short for the Trigg County Wildcats Friday night as the Wildcats dropped a 7-6 decision to the Murray Tigers at the Trigg County Recreation Complex. The loss ended Trigg County’s two-game winning streak.

Trigg County got on the board first in this one with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. James Garnett had an RBI double and Aaden Allen drove in a run with a single to center.

Murray answered by scoring in four consecutive innings. Two runs in the third, two in the fourth, one in the top of the 5th, and two more in the top of the sixth put the Tigers up 7-2.

With their backs against the wall, the Wildcats came battling back in the bottom of the sixth. A single from AJarrious Bell and a triple from Aaden Allen cut the lead to 7-4. Aidon Butts and Chase Hampton continued the rally with RBI singles and the inning ended with Trigg County down just 7-6.

Trigg would get out of a one-out bases-loaded jam in the top of the seventh but could not mount another rally of their own in the bottom of the inning as Murray held on for the win.

Aidon Butts ended up 2-4 for the Wildcats, with an RBI. Aaden Allen finished the game 2-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.

Haydon Reynolds started for Trigg County on the mound and was charged with the loss after going 3 ⅔ innings. He struck out four and walked one.
