The University Heights Academy Blazers put an end to their two-game losing skid with a couple of impressive homefield wins Saturday. The Blazers started the day with a 6-4 win over Greenwood and then finished out with an 8-3 win over Paducah Tilghman.

In the opener, the Blazers broke a 0-0 tie with a 4-run third inning and then fended off Greenwood for the 6-4 win. The Gators began the day having only one loss to a Kentucky team, that being a one-run loss to Owensboro Catholic. Greenwood headed back to Bowling Green with that number up to three losses to Kentucky teams.

UHA scored its first two runs in the third on a Gator error. Hayden Hunt then blasted a two-run shot over the taller section of the fence in left-center to make it 4-0.

Greenwood trimmed a run off the lead in the top of the fourth on a wild pitch but the Blazers got it back in the bottom of the inning when Jaiden Miles took one over the rightfield fence.

The Gators put three runs on the board in the top of the fifth as they closed to within a single run at 5-4. The Blazers used a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the inning to nudge the lead back out to 6-4.

University Heights got out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth and then set the Gators down in order in the top of the seventh to close out the win.

In addition to the home runs from Hunt and Miles, Ryan Luckey was 2-4 with an RBI and two runs scored for UHA.

Jaiden Miles went five innings on the mound to get the win. He gave up four runs, three of them earned, on five hits, striking out two and walking two.

Against Paducah Tilghman, it was another big inning that turned out to be the difference. The Blazers used a 5-run bottom of the fifth inning to break a 2-2 tie and pull away to the 8-3 win over the Blue Tornado.

Aiden Jones and Courtland Gibson had RBI singles in the inning. The big rally was capped off by a two-run home run off the bat of Josh Pace.

Jones had a big game for the Blazers with a 3-4 effort that included an RBI.

Hayden Hunt got the start on the mound and picked up the win. He went six innings, giving up 3 runs, only one earned, on five hits. Hunt struck out five and walked two.
