Caldwell Splits Final 2 Games in Marshall County Slugfest

The Caldwell County Lady Tigers are 8-7 after going 1-2 in the Marshall County Slugfest on Friday and Saturday.

Caldwell split its final two games on Saturday, defeating Calloway County 11-1 but falling to Louisville Mercy 7-1 at Mike Miller Park in Draffenville.

The Lady Tigers led Calloway 6-1 after two innings and went on to wrap up the win on the mercy rule with four runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Brylee Butts was 2-for-4 with three runs batted in and two runs scored while Alexis Wood also went 2-for-4 and knocked in three. Kayliana Bender finished 2-for-3 for the Lady Tigers.

Adley Lewis was 1-for-2 and drove in three while Sara Baker and Daelen Kizzee each singled.

Jackie Farmer was the winning pitcher for Caldwell, allowing just one unearned run on four base hits. Struck out two and walked none.

In Caldwell’s final game in the event, Louisville Mercy put up a five-spot in the top of the second to take a 6-1 lead and went on to win the contest in six innings.

The Lady Tigers had just three base hits in the matchup. Lewis and Tink Clark each doubled while Wood singled and drove in Caldwell’s lone run in the first inning.

The Lady Tigers will play again on Monday when they host Crittenden County.
