A pair of tough losses for the Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors Saturday. HCA fell to Warren Central 7-3 and then saw Fort Knox pull off a 7th inning rally to take an 11-8 come-from-behind win.
Against Warren Central, the Lady Warriors took an early 2-0 lead only to see the Lady Dragons come battling back to take a 7-3 win.
Madison Warren put Heritage Christian in the lead in the top of the first with a two-run double to left, scoring Hadlee Hayes and Kailyn Johnson.
Warren Central came back to tie the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth. An RBI single in the bottom of the 5th put the Lady Dragons up 3-2.
Ava DeJager smacked a double to left in the top of the sixth to score Madison Warren and tie the game up at 3-3.
In the bottom half of the inning, the first four batters reached base for Warren Central as the Lady Dragons took a 4-3 lead. A ground out extended it to 5-3 and then a two-run home run sealed the win for Warren Central.
Hadlee Hayes led the Lady Warriors, going 2-4 with a run scored. Madison Warren was 1-2 with two RBIs and a run scored. Ava DeJager finished 1-3 with an RBI.
Against Fort Knox, it looked as if the Lady Warriors had things where they wanted them, going into the top of the seventh holding an 8-6 lead.
However, the Lady Eagles had other plans, scoring five runs in the inning to take an 11-8 lead. Fort Knox then set the Lady Warriors down in order in the bottom of the seventh to complete the comeback win.
Fort Knox led 2-1 after the first inning. HCA battled back in the bottom of the second to take a 4-3 lead.
Neither team scored in the third or the fourth inning. Both teams then put a couple of runs on the board in the fifth inning, leaving Heritage Christian still in the lead at 6-5. In the sixth, Fort Knox tied the game in the top half of the inning at 6-6.
The Lady Warriors moved back into the lead with a sac fly and a bases-loaded walk, taking an 8-6 lead into the final inning.
Two walks and a hit batter allowed the Lady Eagles to load the bases with one out and that opened the door. Jadyn Alfons then came up with a big double to right to drive in two runs and pull Fort Knox even at 8-8. Another walk reloaded the bases with one out. A steal of home put Fort Knox up 9-8 and then Hannah Steele circled the bases on an inside-the-park home run to move the lead out to 11-8.
The win was the first of the season for the Lady Eagles after opening with 11 straight losses, five of those coming by shutout.
Presley Brewer led Heritage Christian, going 3-4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Madison Warren ended up 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Ava DeJager was 2-3 with a triple and a run scored. Lily Anderson finished 2-4 with a run scored.
