Tigers Outscore Graves for 4th Straight Win

Make it four in a row for the Caldwell County Tigers. The Tigers and Graves County each scored in five of their at-bats Friday night, but it was Caldwell County finding a way to scratch out one more run as the Tigers picked up the 10-9 win. The Tigers move to 12-2 with the win.

Caldwell County opened fast plating four runs in the top of the first. The Tigers got doubles from Luke Parker, Drew Stevens, and Channing Puckett in the inning.

Graves County worked their way even by scoring two in the first and two more in the second.

David Ginn drove in a couple of runs in the top of the fourth to put Caldwell County back up 6-4. The Eagles came right back with a pair of runs of their own in the bottom half of the same inning to make it 6-6.

An error in the top of the 5th cost Graves County two runs and opened the door for another, allowing Caldwell County to move back to the front at 9-6. The Eagles got one of the runs back in the bottom of the inning.

Caldwell County used a wild pitch in the top of the sixth to get a crucial insurance run and push the lead out to 10-7.

The Eagles got an RBI single and a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the sixth to close to within 10-9. However, Scott Cortner was able to set Graves County down in order in the 7th to secure the win for the Tigers.

Luke Parker led the Tiger offense, going 2-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Channing Puckett was 2-3 with a double and an RBI. David Ginn ended up 2-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored.

Scott Cortner went four innings in relief to get the win. He gave up three runs, just one of them earned, on three hits, striking out four and walking three.
