After using the long ball to secure a pair of victories on Saturday, the UHA Blazers made it three in a row thanks to a couple of strong pitching performances in a 2-1 win over hosts Apollo on Monday.

Ryan Luckey earned his second win of the season, allowing a single earned run on two hits with a walk over four innings.  Cadence Gibson took over from there to pick up the save, striking out one and surrendering a single hit over three scoreless frames.

Aiden Jones’ sacrifice fly brought in a run to give the UHA the lead in the top of the first, but the Blazer bats went silent over the next four innings.  Apollo tied things up in the fourth when Luckey paid for a one-out walk after Ryleigh Logan delivered an RBI triple.

Cadence Gibson’s lead-off single got University Heights started in the sixth, and Jackson Flynn came through with a two-out single to score Gibson from second for the go-ahead run.

Hayden Hunt, Jaiden Miles, Eli Finch, Josh Pace, and Gibson each had a hit as the Blazers improved to 9-5.  Up next is a trip to Webster County on Tuesday ahead of a visit from Henderson County on Thursday.

Apollo slipped to 7-6 with Jackson Carter taking the l0ss after allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits with a walk and four strikeouts over seven innings.
