The Christian County softball team picked up an impressive 4-2 win on the road at Paducah Tilghman on Monday, improving to 10-7 and snapping the Blue Tornado’s six-game winning streak.
After Paducah Tilghman struck first with a run in the bottom of the first, the Lady Colonels took advantage of two Blue Tornado errors and tied the game on Chloe Almy’s sacrifice bunt. Alondra Rodriquez followed with a two-run triple to put Christian County on top for good at 3-1.
Mia Bobbitt’s RBI double cut the lead to a run in the fourth, but Rodriquez came up big again with an RBI single to restore the Lady Colonels’ two-run margin in the top of the fifth.
A walk and singles by Jayda Turner and Almy loaded the bases for the Lady Colonels with no outs in the seventh, but they couldn’t push across another insurance run.
Paducah Tilghman brought the tying run to the plate with one out and a runner on first in the bottom of the inning, but Jordan Turner put the finishing touches on a complete-game in the circle with a pop-out and a strikeout. She allowed two earned runs on eight hits with no walks and four strikeouts for her first victory of the year.
Rodriquez finished with two hits and three RBI, followed by Jazzy Tejada and Jayda Turner with two hits each.
Bobbitt took the loss as Paducah Tilghman slipped to 18-7. She gave up four runs, one earned, on eight hits with a walk and nine strikeouts. Audreya White was 3/3 for the Blue Tornado, and Lilly Coomer finished with two hits.
Christian County will travel to Eddyville on Tuesday to face Lyon County.
