Sydney Skeen went deep and drove in four runs and Sadie Kirk was strong in the circle to lead Madisonville-North Hopkins to its fifth straight win after a 9-2 victory on Monday at Owensboro Catholic.
Skeen’s RBI double and a run-scoring single by Maggie Killough gave the Lady Maroons an early 2-0 lead, but Owensboro Catholic got a run back in the bottom first on Harper Latham’s RBI single.
A Madisonville error allowed the tying run to cross in the bottom of the second before Madisonville blew the game open with a six-run fourth. Bryanna Harris doubled in a run, Kirk and Mackenzie Stoltz followed with RBI singles, and Skeen capped the inning with a three-run shot to left field.
Kirk allowed two unearned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and three walks over seven innings. Railey Scott took the loss for Owensboro Catholic, giving up nine earned runs on 11 hits with two walks and a pair of strikeouts.
Nevaeh Lindle, Katelyn Rodgers, Stoltz, and Skeen each finished with two hits for the Lady Maroons.
Madisonville improved to 15-7 ahead of a district matchup with Hopkins County Central on Tuesday. The Lady Maroons beat the Lady Storm 18-0 in four innings in the first meeting this season.
