Defending 2nd Region Softball Champs Look the Part in Win Over Trigg

The defending 2nd Region softball champion made a resounding statement Tuesday night. Hosting the Trigg County Lady Wildcats, the Henderson County Lady Colonels looked every bit the part of the regional favorite again as they handled the Lady Wildcats 11-1 in six innings.

Henderson broke open a close 2-1 game with five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Lady Colonels got big hits from Saniya Shields and Jersey Gardner in the inning as the lead grew to 7-1.

The Lady Colonels added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to push the lead out to 10-1 and then ended the game with a run in the bottom of the sixth.

Henderson pitcher Mackenzie Burczyk held the Lady Wildcats to four hits for the game. Kady Fuller had two of the hits, MaKenna Hendricks and Tember Oliver had one hit each.

The Lady Colonels made it a tough even for Oliver in the circle. They got to the Trigg hurler for 10 runs, 8 of them earned, on 11 hits, in five innings of work.

The loss drops Trigg County to 17-7 on the season.

Henderson County has now won 12 straight.
