
Madisonville-North Hopkins’ Jayce Weaver was on his game Tuesday night. Weaver held Trigg County to just two hits over five innings as the Maroons rolled to a 10-0 five-inning win at Elmer Kelley Stadium.
Weaver handcuffed the Wildcats from the outset, striking out three and walking only one.
On offense, the Maroons jumped on Trigg County early scoring three runs in the bottom of the first. The big play in the inning came when Ryder Sandidge reached base on a Trigg County error and by the time the play was over, Sandidge scored on a second Trigg County error.
Madisonville then added five runs in the bottom of the second. Another Trigg County error and a pair of walks opened the door for the Maroons to add a big inning.
The Maroons ended the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth. Evan Wilson’s one-out triple kicked off the game-ending rally.
Matthew Yates led the Maroon attack, going 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Five other Madisonville batters had one hit each.
For Trigg County, Bentley Reynolds and Aaden Allen had one hit each.
The Maroons outhit the Wildcats 7 to 2 for the game. The Wildcats also hurt their cause with three errors.
