
A night after falling 10-0 to 13th District rivals Logan County, the Todd County Central Rebels put up much more of a fight on Tuesday, matching the Cougars with five hits only to be undone by four errors in a 5-4 loss.
Logan County jumped on top on Drew McLellan’s RBI single in the bottom of the first, and they doubled their advantage thanks to a Rebel error in the third.
Hunter Johnson doubled in two runs to tie the game for Todd Central in the fourth before Tripp Wadlington’s RBI single highlighted the Cougars’ three-run fourth for a 5-2 edge.
After a lead-off single by Aidan Bobbett in the fifth, Devin Schutt delivered an RBI double and later came home on a passed ball to get the Rebels within a run. However, Todd Central went down in order in the final two frames to come up just short.
Tommy VanBeber took the loss for the Rebels, allowing five runs, only one earned, on five hits with four walks and two strikeouts.
Todd Central slipped to 8-5, 0-2 in district play, ahead of a trip to Kirkwood, TN on Friday.
TySean Thomeczek earned the win on the mound for the Cougars, giving up four runs, two earned, on five hits with 10 strikeouts and three walks.
Logan County ran its record to 14-5 with its sixth straight victory and remained unbeaten in three district games.
