
Graves County used a hot start to roll past the Caldwell County Lady Tigers 12-5 in softball action Tuesday in Princeton.
The visiting Lady Eagles (11-11) scored three times in the first inning and five times in the second to build an 8-1 lead.
Caldwell (8-9), which has lost three straight and four of its last five, could not recover.
Lady Tiger pitching gave up 10 earned runs on 17 base hits in the contest.
Brooklyn Cole was the winning hurler for Graves, striking out 12 while allowing five earned runs on nine hits.
Cole was also 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run and two runs batted in. Hadley Hayden was 3-for-4 with a double. Ginger Martin was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.
Isabella Prather had a three-run homer and finished 1-for-4 while driving in four. Riley Smith went 2-for-4 with a triple. Anna Taylor finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.
For Caldwell, Kayliana Bender went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. Alexis Wood went 2-for-4 with a double and a run batted in. Brylee Butts added a triple while Harper Holeman and Josie Palm each doubled.
Next up for the Lady Tigers is an important 7th District matchup against Madisonville-North Hopkins Thursday in Princeton.
