
The Todd County Central baseball team avoided the rain on Friday but couldn’t find shelter from a 12-2 six-inning defeat at Kirkwood, TN.
Gavin Rogers’ first-inning RBI single put Kirkwood in front before Todd Central knotted the game on Lane Thomas’ sacrifice bunt in the top of the second.
Kirkwood tacked on a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead for good, and the Cobras made it 7-2 with a four-run third.
Leading 10-2, Kirkwood finished things off in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double by Dakota Ferren and a run-scoring single by Cole Johnson.
Johnson also earned the win for the Cobras, allowing two unearned runs on three hits with a pair of strikeouts.
Payton Deloach drove in two runs for Kirkwood, and Gus Smith, Matthew Dirks, and Alex Rosenberger each finished with two hits.
Noah Rager took the loss, giving up seven runs, five earned, on five hits with a walk over three innings. Conner Wheeler, Peyton Ortiz, and Aidan Bobbett each had a hit for the Rebels.
Todd Central dropped its third straight to slip to 8-6 ahead of home and away matchups with Franklin-Simpson on Monday and Tuesday.
