Christian County Outlast Purples in 8-Inning Battle

The Christian County Colonels pushed across three runs in the top of the 8th inning Saturday afternoon and picked up a nice road win against the Bowling Green Purples. The Colonels got big hits from Aiden Lewis and Gage McCart in the inning and then held off a Bowling Green comeback attempt in the bottom to take an 8-7 win.

Sebastian Dazey gave up a couple of runs in the bottom of the inning but was able to close the door and give the Colonels the win.

The game had been back and forth all afternoon. Bowling Green took the early lead at 2-0 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third. The Colonels tied it in the top of the fourth on a two-run single from Blake Boehman.

Bowling Green went back in front in the bottom of the fourth at 3-2.

Christian County got two runs in the top of the 6th to take a 4-3 lead only to see the Purples tie it up at 4-4 in the bottom of the inning.

Christian County scored a run in the top of the seventh on a double by Aiden Lewis. Again, the Purples came back with an RBI double in the bottom with two outs to even the game again at 5-5.

A walk and a hit batter set the stage for the Colonels in the top of the 8th. After a wild pitch, Gage McCart singled to score Gage Montes and Blake Boehman. Later in the inning, Aiden Lewis drove in a run with a single, and that would turn out to be the winning run for the game.

Lewis finished 3-4 with 3 RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Colonels, who were outhit by the Purples 10 to 7.

Sebastian Dazey got the win in relief, going the final two innings, giving up three runs on five hits, striking out four and walking two.
