Lady Colonels Fall to Daviess But Take Down Franklin-Simpson

After having their game at Greenwood rained out Friday night, the Lady Colonels were able to get in two of their games for the weekend Saturday, coming away with a split as they fell to Daviess County and then came back to knock off Franklin-Simpson.

The day got off to quite a rocky start for the Lady Colonels. Two Daviess County pitchers combined to allow Christian County just two hits as the Lady Panthers rolled to an 11-0 five inning win.

Kamryn Timmons went 3 ⅔ innings, giving up two hits while striking out 10 and walking only one. Avery Morris closed out the game without allowing a hit and striking out three for the Lady Panthers.

Avery Adock and Chloe Almy had the two hits for Christian County.

Daviess County scored 4 runs in the bottom of the second and then sealed the win with 7 more in the bottom of the fourth.

The Lady Colonels were charged with three errors in the game.

After the offense was missing in the opener, Christian County found it in the second game of the day. The Lady Colonels scored in four of their six at-bats as the cruised to an 8-6 win over the Franklin-Simpson Lady Wildcats.

Christian County entered the top of the seventh holding an 8-2 lead but the Lady Wildcats made it interesting, scoring four runs, including a three-run homer with two outs. But Christian County pitcher, Jordan Turner was able to get the door closed with a big strikeout as the Lady Colonels held on for the win

After two scoreless innings, the Lady Colonels put up two in the third, two in the fourth, one in the fifth, and then three more in the bottom of the sixth inning, outhitting the Lady Wildcats 11 to 9.

B.B. Rodriguez led the Lady Colonel attack, going 3-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, Jazzy Tejada ended up 2-2 with two RBIs.

Jordan Turner picked up the win in the circle for Christian County. She went all seven innings, giving up six runs on nine hits, striking out five and walking two.
