Lear Throws One-Hitter as Maroons Blank Crittenden

Madisonville-North Hopkins Evan Lear had it going Saturday afternoon. The Maroon junior pitched a complete game one-hitter as Madisonville blanked Crittenden County 4-0 at Elmer Kelly Stadium.

The Maroons got all the runs Lear would need in a one-run second inning thanks to a Crittenden County error.

Madisonville then added two more in the third. The big hit in the inning was a Matthew Yates RBI single.

The Maroons got one more insurance run in the fifth as they won for the third time in the last four games.

Matthew Yates ended the day 2-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Alex Richards was also 2-3 with an RBI.

Lear went seven innings on the hill for Madisonville-North Hopkins. He gave up just the one hit, struck out nine and walked three.

The Maroons will get back to action Monday night when they host Webster County in a big 2nd Region contest.
