Union County will have three teams fish at the KHSAA State Bass Fishing Tournament following their top 20 finishes at the Region 1 Tourney on Saturday on Lake Barkley.
Kyle Gibson and Rylen Owen finished in eighth place with four bass that weighed 11 pounds, 14 ounces. Their big bass checked in at 3 pounds, 10 ounces.
For Owen, it’s a return trip to state where he teamed with Ashton White to finish in 42nd place.

Will Clements and Drew Thomas will also be fishing at state after they caught a full bag of five bass that weighed 10 pounds, 2 ounces.
Union County’s third team of Ayden Duncan and Ryan Thomas finished in 20th place with four fish that weighed 9 pounds, 1 ounce.

Union’s teams will compete at the state tournament on May 9-10 at Lake Cumberland, the first time that venue has hosted the state tourney.
Two other teams brought fish to the scales but did not finish inside the top 26 to qualify for state.

Sutton Sheffer and Tristan Griggs caught three bass that weighed 3 pounds, 6 ounces, good for 38th place.

Ashton White and Ryan Salyers caught one bass that weighed two pounds, 12 ounces, good for 57th place.
Muhlenberg County had the top two teams reach the scales at Saturday’s region tourney.
Chase Rickard and Dylan Eubanks won with five fish weighing 18 pounds, 7 ounces. Karson Stone and Levi Simms came in second place with five fish at 18 pounds, 5 ounces.
