The Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors picked up a third place finish over the weekend in the KCAC state tournament, which was played at Springdale Community Church.
In their semifinal game Saturday morning, the Lady Warriors took an early lead, only to see Cornerstone Christian comeback to take a 9-4 win. A six-run second inning told the story in the game for Cornerstone.
Both teams had eight hits in the game. HCA was led by Hadlee Hayes and Ava DeJager with two hits each.
In the consolation game, the Lady Warriors used a 14-hit effort to roll past North Hardin Christian 14-4 in five innings. HCA came roaring out of the game with five runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back.
The Lady Warriors closed out the win with a four-run inning in the bottom of the 5th.
Madison Warren lit it up at the plate, going 4-4 with 5 RBIs. Ava DeJager was 2-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Layton Weeks was 2-2 with 5 RBIs.
Warren also got the win in the circle, going five innings, giving up four runs on seven hits, striking out three and walking only one.
