
An 11-run first inning set the tone on Monday, and the Trigg County Wildcats only needed two more frames to dispatch hosts Fort Campbell 16-0.
Chase Hampton’s two-run single opened the scoring with no outs in the top of the first, and Haydon Reynolds capped the inning with a double to drive in three runs for an 11-0 advantage.
Aidon Butts highlighted a five-run second with an RBI double to cap the scoring, and Ty Gootee did the rest on the mound for the Wildcats.
Gootee earned his third win of the season, allowing no hits with three walks and three strikeouts over three frames.
Aaden Allen led the way at the plate with three hits and two RBI, Butts had two hits and drove in two runs, Reynolds and Cannon Scott each had a hit and three RBI, and Hampton drove in a pair of runs. AJ Bell also had a hit, and Jon Humphries was hit by a pitch with the bases juiced to pick up an RBI.
Noah Herron took the loss, giving up 11 runs, five earned, on seven hits with a walk and a strikeout as the Falcons slipped to 3-13 ahead of a visit from University Heights Academy on Tuesday.
Trigg County improved to 8-8 with Livingston Central coming to Cadiz on Tuesday.
