
After falling to Franklin-Simpson 13-0 in four innings on Monday, the Todd County Central Rebels stayed within striking distance for four frames on Tuesday before the Wildcats used a four-run fifth to pull away for an 11-5 win.
Lane Thomas’ RBI single gave the Rebels a 1-0 edge in the first before an error allowed Franklin-Simpson to tie the game in the bottom of the inning. Conner Wheeler singled in a run in Todd Central’s next at-bat, and the Rebels led 3-2 after a run on a Wildcat error in the third.
Boy Blanckenberg’s RBI double gave Franklin-Simpson the lead for good in the third, ahead of an RBI single from Adam Lamirande to give the Wildcats a 6-3 advantage. They put the game away with four runs in the fifth, with a pair of Rebel errors on Kolton Turner’s double allowing two runs to cross and make it 10-4.
Easton Kelley earned the win on the mound, allowing two unearned runs on a hit with two walks and six strikeouts in two and two-thirds. Jordan Brandon started for the Wildcats, giving up two earned runs on four hits in just under three innings.
Tommy Van Beber suffered the loss, surrendering 11 runs, eight earned, on nine hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Peyton Ortiz had two hits to lead the Rebels.
Todd Central slipped to 8-8 with its fifth loss in a row ahead of a trip to Warren Central on Thursday.
