Lyon County continued its winning ways on Thursday, blanking Caldwell County 10-0 in six innings at Jim Boyd Field at Lee S. Jones Park in Eddyville.

Brady Belt tossed a one-hit shutout and Eli Baker slammed two home runs as the Lyons claimed their first game back after winning the state All A Classic championship Sunday in Owensboro.

Lyon (13-5) owns a five-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Caldwell (15-3) saw a seven-game win streak come to an end.

A six-run fourth inning helped the Lyons take control of the contest.

Caldwell’s only hit came from the first batter of the game when Luke Parker singled into left-center. Belt would not allow another base hit, striking out three and walking four.

The Tigers loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the first on a single, a hit batter and a walk. However, Caldwell failed to score.

Lyon then took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on Belt’s RBI single to center. That scored Baker, who had started the frame with a double to the fence in left-center.

The Lyons tacked on another run in the third when Baker homered to left-center leading off the frame.

Lyon blew the game open with its six-run fourth. The first seven batters all reached base as the Lyons sent 10 men to the plate.

Korben Lucas singled home a run in the frame while Peyton Williams had a sacrifice fly to center. There were two bases-loaded walks in the frame. Belt had an RBI groundout and another run scored on an error.

Lyon then finished off the game in the sixth. Hudson Phillips was hit by a pitch to start the inning. Baker followed with a two-run homer to centerfield to end the contest.

Baker was 3-for-3 with four runs batted in and four runs scored.

Lyon has taken its last three meetings with Caldwell. The Tigers still lead the all-time series 92-35.

The Lyons will next host Graves County on Saturday.

The Tigers will go to Marshall County on Saturday.
