
After seeing Franklin-Simpson scored five straight runs to take a three-run lead into the bottom of the sixth, the Lyon County Lady Lyons simply found a way. Ava Prow’s RBI single with one out in the bottom of the seventh drove in the winning run as the Lady Lyons came back to take an 8-7 win over the Lady Wildcats in their opening game of the Softball Catholic Classic at Jack Fisher Park in Owensboro.
Prow’s game-winner capped off a four-run rally by the Lady Lyons to end the game. The time limit rule for the event ended the game after six innings.
Franklin-Simpson scored single runs in the first and second to take a 2-0 lead.
Lyon County responded with four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Two Franklin-Simpson errors played a big part in the inning.
The Lady Wildcats got a run in the top of the fifth and then four more in the top of the sixth to take a 7-3 lead.
The game-winning rally began with Audrey Akridge reaching base on an error to start the bottom of the sixth. Courtney Collins was hit by a pitch to set up runners at first and second. Jenna Coursey doubled to drive in two runs and cut the lead to 7-5.
Lilly Perry grounded out to push across another run, making it 7-6. Olivia Moore tied the game with a triple to center, setting the stage for Prow’s winning hit.
Audrey Akridge went 3-4 with a double and two runs scored. Ava Prow finished the game 3-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Jenna Coursey was 2-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored.
Lilly Perry went all six innings in the circle to pick up the win. She gave up seven runs, only two of them earned, on seven hits, striking out three, and walking two.
