Lady Lyons Use Long Ball to Beat Muhlenberg on Senior Night

Courtney Collins homered twice as Lyon County’s girls turned back Muhlenberg County 6-2 in softball action Tuesday at Lee S. Jones Park in Eddyville.

Collins was 3-for-3 with four runs batted in. That included a three-run homer to center in the bottom of the third inning that gave the Lady Lyons a 5-0 lead and a solo shot to left-center leading off the fifth that made it 6-2.

Jenna Coursey was 2-for-3 for Lyon with a two-run single in the first inning that got the scoring started.

Muhlenberg (10-14) got both of its runs on a home run by Jaycee Noffsinger in the top of the fourth inning.

Lilly Perry, Lyon’s lone senior, picked up the win in the circle on Senior Night. She allowed the two earned runs on seven base hits while striking out three and walking one.

Audrey Akridge was 2-for-3 for Lyon with a double. Ava Prow added a single.

For Muhlenberg, Joshlynn Noe went 3-for-4 at the plate and Abry Carver was 2-for-3.

The Lady Lyons are now 10-11-1. They will travel to Crittenden County for 5th District action on Thursday.
