Maddison Wade drove in Rylann Griggs on a groundout in the bottom of the sixth for what turned out to be the winning run as the Todd County Central Lady Rebels took a 5-4 win over the Russellville Lady Panthers in a key 13th District matchup in Elkton. The win ended a three-game losing skid for the Lady Rebels.

Griggs had led off the bottom of the sixth inning with the game tied 4-4 and reached base on a single to left. Griggs advanced to second on the play thanks to a Lady Panther error.

Aubrey Perone then sacrificed Griggs over to third base, setting up the go ahead score.

Both teams got their offense started early in this one.

Russellville scored a run in the top of the first to make it 1-0. The Lady Rebels came back with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning on a two-run homer from Dakotah Gammon.

The Lady Panthers scored three runs in the top of the second to take th lead back at 4-2. Todd County Central then pulled even at 4-4 in the bottom of the third, using three Russellville errors to score two runs.

Errors would end up costing the Lady Panthers dearly as they were charged with four for the game. That allowed Todd County Central to score three unearned runs.

The Lady Rebels had 8 hits in the game to 5 for the Lady Panthers. Dakotah Gammon was 2-3 with a home run, two RBIs, and a run scored. Six other Lady Rebels had one hit each.

In the circle, Olivia Weikel went all seven innings. She gave up four runs, just one of them earned, on five hits, striking out six and walking three.
