The Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons needed just six hits to put double digits on the scoreboard Thursday evening. The Maroons took advantage of four Owensboro Knights errors and rolled to an 11-1 five inning win at Elmer Kelley Stadium.
The Maroons put a single run on the board in the first and then exploded for five runs in the bottom of the second to take a 6-0 lead.
After the Knights trimmed the lead to 6-1 in the top of the fifth, the Maroons then closed out the game and walked it off with five runs in the bottom of the fifth to get to the ten-run rule win.
Lane Faulk was 2-2 for the Maroons with a run scored. Brantley Harris finished the night 1-3 with two RBIs.
Jayce Weaver went all five innings on the mound for the Maroons. He gave up one run on three hits, striking out seven and walking four.
Madisonville-North Hopkins improves to 15-11 with the win and gets ready to go on the road Friday evening to take on Trigg County.
