Community Christian got the better end of a pitchers duel against the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors Thursday evening in Paducah. CCA had one less hit but managed to take a 2-1 win over the Warriors.

The two teams combined for just five hits in the game as the two pitchers controlled this one from the start.

The game was a scoreless battle until the bottom of the fifth inning when Community Christian’s Owen Helm drove in a run with an infield single to make it 1-0.

The lead grew to 2-0 in the bottom of the 6th when CCA scored a run off a pair of walks and a fielder’s choice.

HCA tried to get a rally going in the top of the seventh. Collin Outland opened the inning with a double to center. He advanced to third on a ground out and scored on a second ground out to pull the Warrior to within 2-1.

But that was it for the comeback as CCA was able to get a strikeout to end the game.

Cadyn Travis, Collin Outland, and Caden Gresham had one hit each for Heritage Christian.

Aaron Hensley gave the Warriors a big effort on the mound. He got the start and went five innings, giving up two runs on just one hit, striking out three and walking five.

Heritage Christian is set to get back to action Friday evening when they host Crittenden County.
