There are some ‘what-ifs’ as it pertains to the 8th District baseball tournament which is set to get underway in less than two weeks. The district meeting with athletic directors and coaches took place Thursday morning at Heritage Christian Academy.
The biggest factor in the schedule for the tournament appears to be the availability of umpires.
Pending umpire availability and Fort Campbell being able to get to the game site by game time, the tournament is slated to get underway at two locations Monday, May 19. At 4:30pm, #4 seed Fort Campbell would take on #5 seed Heritage Christian at HCA. While that game is finishing up, the #2 seed and the #3 seed, which are still to be determined, would start at 5:30pm at University Heights Academy.
The winner of the game between Fort Campbell and Heritage Christian would then travel across town for a 7pm matchup against the #1 seed, which is also still to be determined.
Under that plan, the championship game would be Tuesday evening at 6pm.
If there are not enough umpires available Monday evening, Heritage Christian and Fort Campbell would play Monday evening, May 19, at 5:30 at University Heights.
The semifinals would then be at 5:30pm and 7pm on Tuesday, May 20, with the championship game then Wednesday night at 6pm.
Tickets for the tournament at $8 per night.
