Still smarting from back-to-back losses to Christian County and Muhlenberg, the University Heights Blazers were sluggish after a long bus ride on Friday in an 8-0 loss to Eastern at the FCIT at Henry Clay.  The Blazers’ third straight defeat marks the first of three games this weekend in Lexington, with matchups with the host Blue Devils and Lexington Christian on Saturday.

Aidan Calhoun’s RBI single put the Eagles in front, and that would be all the run support starting pitcher James Harris would need.  Harris ran his record to 5-2, scattering six hits with two walks and seven strikeouts over seven scoreless innings.

A single by Aidan Calhoun and a Blazer error allowed two runs to cross in the third, and after a bases-loaded walk and another UHA miscue, Calhoun struck again with an RBI single to put Eastern in front 8-0 after four innings.

Josh Pace took the loss on the mound, allowing five runs, only one earned, on five hits with no walks and a strikeout.  Hayden Hunt finished 3/3 at the plate as the Blazers slipped to 13-8.

Calhoun’s three-hit, four-RBI night helped Eastern improve to 19-10.  The Eagles will also face hosts Henry Clay and Lexington Christian on Saturday.
