
The Caldwell County Tiger baseball team continues to find ways to win games.
On Friday, it was a rally from a 4-1 deficit to earn a 6-4 triumph at Carlisle County.
The host Comets (13-10) took their three-run advantage to the fifth inning. But Caldwell (18-4) put up two runs in the fifth and three runs in the sixth to pull out the victory.
Westin King doubled home two runs with two outs in the fifth as the Tigers narrowed the gap to 4-3.
Derek Wilson singled home a run in the sixth to tie the game. Luke Parker’s single with two outs drove home the go-ahead run. Drew Stevens singled in another run to give Caldwell its 6-4 lead.
Mitchell Phelps picked up the pitching win in relief of Scott Cortner. Phelps blanked Carlisle over 3.1 innings to give the Tigers a chance to come back.
Presten Alfred went the final 1.1 innings, striking out three and allowing just one hit, to earn the save.
Caldwell had taken a 1-0 lead with an unearned run in the first inning.
Carlisle scored all of its runs in the bottom of the second. Koltyn Perez had the big hit in the frame with a two-run single.
Karter Hutchinson was 3-for-4 for the Comets, who outhit the Tigers 10-9. Jayden Bruer went 2-for-3.
For Caldwell, Brody Kirk was 2-for-3 while Derek Wilson went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
The teams have met just eight times, with Caldwell holding a 5-3 lead in the all-time series.
The Tigers next visit Webster County on Monday.
