Caldwell County’s girls grabbed a 1-0 lead on the road on Friday, but Webster County came back to capture a 4-1 victory in softball action in Dixon.

On a day when hits were difficult to come back, the Lady Tigers put up a run in the top of the third inning.

Daelen Kizzee singled with one out in the inning. She then came around to score when Harper Holeman doubled to the fence in left-center.

Webster (11-14) countered in the bottom of the third inning on RBI singles by Layla Scott and Raynei Roy to go in front 2-1.

The Lady Trojans added two more runs in the fifth when Chloe Papineau homered to left field. That made it 4-1.

That was all the scoring, as Papineau and Alexis Wood were both effective in the circle.

Papineau struck out nine and allowed just the one run on five base hits.

Wood allowed three earned runs on five hits while striking out four and walking one.

Holeman was the only player in the game with multiple base hits, going 2-for-3.

Caldwell has dropped three straight and is now 10-13.

Webster has taken the last four meetings between the two schools and leads all-time 23-14.

The Lady Tigers will play twice in the Best of the West in Bowling Green on Saturday. Caldwell is scheduled to face Oldham County at noon and Pulaski County at 2 p.m.
