The host Mayfield Lady Cardinals finished off a season sweep over Heritage Christian Academy on Friday, dispatching the Lady Warriors 18-5 in five innings to complement a shutout victory in Hopkinsville on Tuesday.

After Heritage Christian jumped in front on Ava DeJager’s RBI single in the top of the first, Mayfield answered with six runs in the bottom of the frame, highlighted by Bella Wilson’s two-run double, to take the lead for good.

Layton Weeks delivered a two-run triple to give the Lady Warriors some life in the second, but RBI singles by Alie Floyd and Kalli McCuiston, and a two-run double from Wilson, effectively put the game away at 11-3.

Jaidyn Hendley made it 13-4 with a double to drive in two in the Lady Cardinal third, and Samee Oliver added a two-run double in the bottom of the fourth.

Kailyn Johnson took the loss in the circle for the Lady Warriors, allowing 17 earned runs on 14 hits with four walks and a strikeout.  Weeks, DeJager, and Hadley Hayes each finished with two hits for HCA.

Anabella Ramos earned the win, giving up five earned runs on 12 hits with a walk and three strikeouts over five frames.

Wilson finished with five RBI, and Oliver and Hendley each drove in three runs for the Lady Cardinals.

Heritage Christian slipped to 5-8 ahead of the regular-season finale against visiting University Heights Academy on Thursday.  The Lady Warriors took the first meeting over their district rivals 16-13.
