Thirteens Are Unlucky for Storm in Loss to Grayson County

They are numbers that are just impossible to overcome. Grayson County had 13 hits and the Hopkins County Central Storm was charged with 13 errors as the Cougars took a 17-6 win Friday evening at Elmer Kelley Stadium in Madisonville.

The game was moved to Elmer Kelley due to lighting issues at the Storm’s home field in Mortons Gap.

Grayson County jumped out to a big early lead, scoring seven runs in the top of the first inning. The Cougars took advantage of three Hopkins County Central errors in the inning.

From that point, the Storm were never able to make a serious charge to get back in the game. Hopkins County Central would get within 9-4 after four innings. Grayson County then settled the matter for good scoring 8 straight runs before Hopkins County Central plated a couple of late runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Neilan Bruce, Brody Smith, Gaige Brasher, Daniel Brady, and Sawyer Allen had one hit each for Hopkins County Central.

Brasher and Brady added two RBIs each.

For the game, Grayson County outhit Hopkins County Central 13 to 5.

Hopkins County Central is scheduled to play at Fort Campbell Saturday.
