The University Heights Academy Blazers finished off their trip to the Fayette County Invitational Tournament with a split of Saturday games. UHA picked up a win over Lexington Henry Clay and then fell to Lexington Christian.

The first game Saturday saw the Blazers get a solid pitching effort from Jaiden Milles as UHA took a 6-2 win over the Lexington Henry Clay Blue Devils.

Miles went five innings on the mound and allowed Henry Clay just one run on one hit. Miles struck out 10 during his time on the hill.

The Blazers jumped on top of Henry Clay early, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. UHA took advantage of two Blue Devil errors and an RBI single from Courtland Gibson to get in front.

Henry Clay got a run in the bottom of the first, but University Heights quickly got that run back in the top of the second off an RBI single from Eli Finch. The Blazers added an insurance run in the top of the fifth to make it 6-1 on an RBI double from Courtland Gibson.

Gibson finished the game 3-4 with two RBIs. Hayden Hunt was 3-4 with a double and two runs scored.

The Blazers’ second game Saturday did not go nearly as well. Lexington Christian took an early 3-0 lead and then blew the game wide open with 8 runs in the top of the 7th as the Eagles took a 16-2 win over UHA.

LCA banged out 16 hits on the way to the big win.

The Eagles scored one in the second, two in the third, one in the fifth, four in the sixth, and then exploded for 8 runs in the top of the seventh.

UHA got both of its runs in the fifth inning. Trailing 4-0, the Blazers took advantage of a walk and two LCA errors to put the runs on the board and cut the lead in half, but that momentum quickly evaporated in the wake of back-to-back big innings from Lexington Christian.

Cadence Gibson ended up 2-3 with a double for the Blazers. Aiden Jones and Jackson Flynn added one hit each for the Blazers.

With the Saturday split, University Heights is now 14-9 for the season. The Blazers get back to work Monday when they travel to Fort Campbell for an 8th District contest.
