Eight errors were too much for the Crittenden County Lady Rockets to overcome Saturday afternoon. The Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons scored seven unearned runs on their way to a 9-4 win over the Lady Rockets in Marion.
The Lady Rockets got on the board first with an RBI single from Elle McDaniel to go up 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning.
Madisonville came back to take the lead with a pair of runs in the top of third. Back-to-back errors from the Lady Rockets opened the door for a two-run single from Sydney Skeen.
The Lady Maroons then took a firm grip on the game with a four-run top of the fifth inning. Mackenzie Stoltz hit a two-run shot to left to make it a 4-1 game. Nevaeh Lindle added a two-run single later in the inning to extend the lead on out to 6-1.
Each team then scored a run in the sixth and two in the seventh as the Lady Maroons got the five-run win.
Sadie Kirk, Mackenzie Stoltz, and Nevaeh Lindle all had two hits each to lead the Lady Maroons. Stoltz, Lindle, and Sydney Skeen had two RBIs each.
Sadie Kirk went the distance in the circle, giving up four runs, three of them earned, on six hits, striking out ten and walking one.
Madisonville-North Hopkins improves to 21-8 with the win, which was the Lady Maroons’ 11th in their last 12 games. They are set to host Marshall County Monday evening.
