The Lyon County Lady Lyons wrapped up their weekend trip to Owensboro with a split of two games Saturday in the Team Lauren Tournament. The Lady Lyons saw Hancock County come back to get a win to start the day and then Lyon County got a monster game from Jenna Coursey to route Pleasure Ridge Park in their last game.
In the opening game of the day Saturday, Hancock County broke a 2-2 tie with six runs in the top of the sixth inning and then went on to take an 8-4 win over the Lady Lyons.
Lyon County had taken a 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run single from Lilly Perry.
Hancock County came back to tie the game at 2-2 in the top of the fourth. The Lady Hornets then took the lead for good in the top of the sixth. The first five batters all reached base to kick off a six-run rally as Hancock County went up 8-2.
The Lady Lyons cut into the lead in the bottom of the 7th on a two-run home run from Jenna Coursey but could not extend a comeback past that point.
Jenna Coursey and Lilly Perry were each 3-4 in the game. Perry had a double and two runs scored. Coursey had the home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored.
Perry went the distance in the circle and struck out 10.
The Lady Lyons rebounded from the loss in the opening game Saturday by getting a huge game from Jenna Coursey and dispatching Pleasure Ridge Park 11-1 in six innings.
Coursey had six RBIs as Lyon County took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the first and kept the pedal down.
Lyon County scored two more in the second, one in the third, one in the fifth, and then ended the game with four runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Coursey ended up 3-4 with a home run, two doubles, six RBIs, and a run scored. Courtney Collins was 3-5 with an RBI, and two runs scored. Freshman Audrey Akridge was 2-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Lilly Perry and Olivia Moore added two hits each.
7th grader Ava Prow pitched all six innings for Lyon County, giving up one run on six hits, striking out two and walking two.
With the split, Lyon County is now 12-13. The Lady Lyons host Paducah Tilghman Monday evening.
