The Trigg County offense had its struggles Saturday as the Lady Wildcats were shutout in a pair of games at the Best of the West. The Lady Wildcats dropped decisions to Allen County-Scottsville and Apollo.
The opening game saw Allen County-Scottsville pitcher Brooklyn Oliver pitch four innings of two-hit softball as the Lady Patriots took an 11-0 five-inning win over the Lady Wildcats.
The Lady Wildcats did not help their cause in the field, committing four errors in the five innings.
ACS scored two runs in the top of the first and then blew the game open with seven runs in the top of the second. The Lady Patriots tacked on two more runs in the top of the third.
Livia Breckel and Kady Fuller had the two hits for Trigg County.
Timber Oliver got the start for Trigg County in the circle. She gave up nine runs, only four of them were earned, on six hits, striking out one, and walking two
Trigg County’s offense continued to struggle in the Lady Wildcats second game of the day. Apollo pitcher Mollie Julian limited Trigg County to just three hits as the E-Gals took a 5-0 win.
Julian struck out seven and walked only one in seven innings in the circle.
Apollo scored all their runs in the top of the second inning using a string of singles to push across the five runs.
Veyda Grinols had two hits for Trigg County and Madilynn Smith had the other as the Lady Wildcats were outhit by the E-Gals 11 to 3.
Trigg County starter Tember Oliver went 2 ⅓ innings in the circle and was charged with all five runs.
Trigg County (19-10) is set to go on the road Monday to take on the Webster County Lady Trojans.
