Storm Get Another Saturday Win Over Fort Campbell

The Hopkins County Central Storm apparently like playing the Fort Campbell Falcons on Saturday afternoons. The Storm scored 11 runs over their final three at-bats Saturday to pick up a 14-6 win over the Falcons on post.

The win ends a three-game skid for Hopkins County Central that began after the Storm blanked the Falcons 10-0 last Saturday in Mortons Gap.

Both teams got on the board in the second inning. The Storm broke through with three runs in the top half of the second. Two of the runs came on a single to right from Jak Mitchell, the other on a Falcon error.

Fort Campbell battled right back with four runs in the bottom of the 2nd. Two of the runs scored on wild pitches, one on a bases-loaded walk, and the other on an RBI single from Michael Andrerson.

Hopkins County Central then grabbed the game with three runs in the fourth, three more in the fifth, and five runs in the top of the sixth.

Neilan Bruce had another big game for the Storm, going 3-4 with two doubles, three RBIs, and a run scored. Brody Smith was 1-5 and drove in four runs for Hopkins County Central, which outhit Fort Campbell 12 to 3 for the game.

Michael Anderson, Tanner Starnater, and Corey Baker had one hit each for Fort Campbell. Anderson had two RBIs.

Gaige Brasher got the win in relief for Hopkins County Central. He went five innings, giving up two runs on one hit, striking out 8 and walking 5.

Hopkins County Central is set to host Whitesville Trinity on Monday.

Fort Campbell hosts University Heights Monday evening.
