You just might want to keep your eyes on the Webster County Lady Trojans as the 2025 softball season heads into its final days. The Lady Trojans got another big effort from senior pitcher Chloe Papineau in the circle and got a big day from freshman Layla Scott at the plate as Webster County rolled past Todd County Central 11-1 in a six-inning game Saturday afternoon in Dixon.

Papineau allowed the Lady Rebels just two hits in six innings of work in the circle. She struck out eight and walked just one in picking up the win, which was Webster County’s fourth straight and fifth in the last six games.

Todd County Central took a brief 1-0 lead in the game when Naomi Welborn singled to drive in pinch-runner Abigail Choate.

Webster County scored a run in the bottom half of the inning to even the game at 1-1. The Lady Trojans scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 5-1 lead, a lead that would not be threatened for the rest of the day.

The Lady Trojans scored another run in the bottom of the fourth and then ended the game with five runs in the bottom of the fifth to get to the 10-run rule.

The Lady Rebels were their own worst enemy in the field, committing seven errors for the game, including an error that allowed Webster County to finish the game in the fifth. Nine of Webster County’s 11 runs were unearned.

Naomi Welborn and Dakotah Gammon had the only hits in the game for Todd County Central.

Layla Scott was 3-3 with 5 RBIs for the Lady Trojans.

Todd County Central is set to host Ohio County on Thursday.
