A three-game winning streak has the Caldwell County Lady Tigers back to .500 at 13-13 on the season.

The Lady Tigers blanked Muhlenberg County 7-0 on Monday as Alexis Wood pitched a two-hit shutout.

Wood did not walk a batter or have a strikeout, but she allowed only three baserunners on a pair of singles and a hit batter. She faced just two batters over the minimum as Caldwell turned a 1-4-3 double play to end the contest.

Meanwhile, Caldwell loaded the bases in the bottom of the third inning and scored three times on Tink Clark’s single to right field with two outs. Muhlenberg’s Averie Smith made a diving attempt at the line drive and narrowly missed coming up with an inning-ending catch.

The Lady Tigers added another run in the fifth. Wood singled with one out. Courtesy runner Serenity Oliver stole second, then scored on Grace Watson’s single to center to make it 4-0.

Caldwell put the game away with a three-run sixth. Brylee Butts singled home two runs, then Harper Holeman had a sacrifice fly to right to extend the margin to 7-0.

Butts finished the day 4-for-4 for the Lady Tigers with a double and an RBI. Adley Lewis doubled while Wood, Watson, Clark and Josie Palm each had singles.

Jaycee Noffsinger and Smith each recorded singles for the Lady Mustangs, who are now 12-16.

With the win, Caldwell edges ahead 4-3 in the all-time series with Muhlenberg.

Caldwell will be back in action on Tuesday with a trip to Graves County.
