The Hopkins County Central Lady Storm got their offense rolling Monday evening. The Lady Storm had their highest offensive output of the season in taking a 17-2 four-inning win over the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers in Mortons Gap. The score was initially logged as 20-2, but later officials discovered that the game should have ended when the lead reached 15 runs in the bottom of the fourth.
The Lady Storm scored in every inning on their way to the win with 5 runs in the first, four in the second, six in the third, and two more in the fourth, ending the game with the 15-run rule.
Hopkins Central had 11 hits and took advantage of five Lady Blazer errors in the game, which allowed the Lady Storm to score eight unearned runs.
UHA led early in the game with a pair of runs in the top of the first as Madison Williams had a double to right to drive in both runs.
The Lady Storm took control in the bottom half of the inning, scoring all five of their runs after two outs with 8 straight batters reaching base safely. Central was the beneficiary of two errors, two walks, and a hit batter in the inning, as the Lady Storm took a lead that would not be threatened for the rest of the night.
Layla Sorrells, Emily Ballard, and Addison Blanchard had two hits each for Hopkins County Central. Ballard also had four RBIs.
Madison Williams, Gracie Ausenbaugh, and Megan Long had the hits for the Lady Blazers.
Emily Ballard went all four innings in the circle to pick up the win. She gave up two runs on three hits, struck out 8 and walked one.
