A pair of teams riding three-game win streaks met when Madisonville-North Hopkins travelled to Owensboro Catholic on Monday, with the Maroons extending their victorious stretch with six runs in their final at-bat to prevail 11-10.

Madisonville improved to 17-11 and dropped Owensboro Catholic to 17-9 with the Maroons’ first win over the Aces in over 20 years.

O Cath took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI double from Jake Murphy and a run-scoring single for Parker Heistand, before the Maroons got a run back on an Aces’ error in the second.

Trailing 4-1 to start the bottom of the fourth, Madisonville battled back to tie the game on Evan Wilson’s RBI single.  However, O Cath was back in front again in the fifth after Brady Atwell cleared the center field fence with a two-run home run.

Ryder Sandidge provided a glimpse of things to come with an RBI single to trim the Aces’ lead to 6-5 before Owensboro Catholic looked to have put the game away with four runs in the top of the seventh.

Down to their last at-bat, the Maroons’ Alex Richards kickstarted the comeback with a two-run double, and a sacrifice fly by Jaziyon Latham and an Aces’ error allowed two runs to cross and cut it to 10-9.  Wilson’s RBI double tied the game with two outs, and Sandidge singled to right field to plate Wilson for the win.

After Lane Faulk started and allowed 10 runs, seven earned, on eight hits with five walks and a strikeout over six innings, Richards came on for an inning of relief to pick up the win with a strikeout and a pair of walks.

Wilson led the Maroons with three hits and two RBI, and Richards and Sandidge each had two hits and drove in two.

Luke Quinn suffered the loss for the Aces, giving up an earned run on two hits in a third of an inning.  Atwell drove in three runs, and Heistand and Murphy each drove in two.

The Maroons will look to stay hot on Tuesday when they entertain Henderson County.  Madisonville took the season’s first meeting with the Colonels 14-7.
