
The Lyon County Lady Lyons kicked off the final week of the softball regular season with a comeback win. Lyon County scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 7-5 win over Paducah Tilghman Monday evening at Lee S. Jones Park.
The game had gone back and forth all evening as the two teams battled it out.
The Lady Blue Tornado hung two on the board in the top of the first inning to go up 2-0. A Lyon County error on a fly ball allowed both runs to score for Tilghman.
The Lady Lyons came back to tie the game at 2-2 in the bottom half of the inning. Audrey Akridge and Courtney Collins led off the inning with back-to-back singles. Akridge then scored on a single to center from Jenna Coursey, who has been lighting it up at the plate as of late.
Olivia Moore added an RBI single that tied the game up as the rally came to an end in the bottom of the first.
Courtney Collins connected with an RBI single to left in the bottom of the second as Lyon County took its first lead of the game at 3-2. Olivia Moore drew a bases-loaded walk later in the inning as the lead moved out to 4-2 after two.
Paducah Tilghman got one of the runs back in the top of the third and then scored two more in the top of the fourth to take a 5-4 lead.
The game-winning rally for the Lady Lyons got started with one out in the bottom of the sixth. Jenna Coursey and Lilly Perry singled and then Olivia Moore walked to load the bases for Lyon County. Ava Prow tied the game at 5-5 with a single to right.
Emma Brasher hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring Lilly Perry and putting Lyon County back in the lead at 6-5. Sloan Cotham then drew a bases-loaded walk to force in Olivia Moore and move the lead out to 7-5.
Lilly Perry then closed out the game by shutting down Tilghman in the top of the 7th.
Courtney Collins, Jenna Coursey, and Sloan Cotham, all had two hits for the Lady Lyons. Olivia Moore added two RBIs for Lyon County.
Seven of the nine Lady Lyon batters had at least one hit in the game as the Lady Lyons outhit the Lady Blue Tornado 10 to 8.
Lyon County (13-13-1) is scheduled to close out the regular season Tuesday evening at home against Marshall County.
