Hopkins County Central saw a two-game winning run come to an end on Tuesday with an 11-1 loss to hosts Butler County.  The Bears improved to 13-11 after turning four hits into 11 runs thanks to six Storm miscues.

Neilan Bruce came home on a wild pitch to give Hopkins Central a first-inning lead, but Butler County took advantage of four walks and a hit-by-pitch to push two runs across in the bottom of the frame.

A wild pitch and a pair of Storm errors allowed Butler County to plate three more runs in the fourth for a 6-1 advantage, and another error allowed two more runs to cross in the fifth.

A three-run sixth finished off the win for the Bears, capped by Duncan Tyree’s RBI single.  Eli Oaks earned the win on the mound after allowing an earned run on two hits with four walks and eight strikeouts over four innings.

Bruce suffered the loss for the Storm, giving up six runs, two earned, on two hits with six strikeouts and seven walks over four frames.  Gaige Brasher worked the final inning and two-thirds, surrendering five runs, three earned, on a pair of hits with four walks and three strikeouts.

Hopkins Central slipped to 7-19 ahead of a trip to Union County on Thursday.  The Braves won the season’s first meeting 9-4 in Morton’s Gap.
