The University Heights Academy Blazers were in need of a little positive momentum in wake of dropping four of their last five games. The Blazers got some of that positive mojo in the form of a big 18-0 five-inning district win Tuesday evening over Heritage Christian Academy.
The game was moved to UHA due to field conditions at Heritage Christian, so the Blazers took to the field as the visiting team on their home diamond. They seemed to get along fairly well with that playing order.
The Blazers scored in every inning on their way to the win. UHA scored two in the first, four each in the second and third, two in the fourth, and then slammed the door on the night with six runs in the top of the fifth.
The Blazers pounded out 12 hits and took advantage of five Warrior errors.
Cadence Gibson got the start and went four innings for the Blazers, giving up just three hits, striking out nine, and walking three.
Aiden Jones had a huge night for UHA, going 4-4 with a double, 8 RBIs, and four runs scored. Jackson Flynn finished 2-4 with 3 RBIs. Cadence Gibson was 3-4 with an RBI and five runs scored.
Caden Gresham, Jayden Nichols, and Tycen Wells had one hit each for the Warriors.
