Madisonville-North Hopkins committed four errors and managed only four hits on Tuesday in a 12-2, six-inning defeat at Union County.  The loss is only the second in the last 14 games for the Lady Maroons ahead of a visit from Trigg County on Thursday.

Madisonville pushed two runs across in the top of the first on a double by Mackenzie Stoltz and a steal of home, but other than leaving the bases loaded in the fifth, the Lady Maroons wouldn’t threaten the rest of the way.

Trailing 1-0, the Lady Braves scored in the bottom of the first before taking the lead for good in the third on Sydney Thomas’ RBI single and a run on a passed ball.

Thomas led off the bottom of the fifth with a home run, and despite another Union County run on Brooklyn Tackett’s RBI single, the Lady Maroons were still within striking distance down 5-2 midway through the sixth.

However, the Lady Braves erupted for seven runs in their next at-bat, highlighted by RBI doubles by Thomas and Miley Mendoza, to finish off the win.

Peyton Jenkins earned the complete-game win in the circle for the Lady Braves, allowing two earned runs on four hits with two walks and a pair of strikeouts.

Thomas finished 4/4 with four RBI to help Union County improve to 17-14, and Jaylen Tackett and Mendoza each drove in two runs.

Stoltz took the loss for the Lady Maroons, giving up 11 runs, nine earned, on 10 hits with five walks and five strikeouts.
