Madisonville-North Hopkins placed two teams into the semifinals of the Boys Region 2 Doubles Tennis Tournament on Tuesday in Henderson.
Noah Mays and Justin Rodgers entered Tuesday as the No. 2 seed. They defeated University Heights Academy’s Paxton Aldridge and Bradley Simmons 6-1, 6-3 in the opening round and beat Caldwell County’s Eli Thomas and Ben Menser 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinals.
Mays teamed with Eli Pinkerton last year to advance to the doubles championship, where they lost in three sets.
Jaden Heath and Izaac Bridgman, Madisonville’s fourth-seeded team, opened with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Hopkins County Central’s Jayden Broady and Carson Scott. In the quarterfinals, they defeated Christian County’s Raymond Robinson and Cooper Fort 6-1, 6-4.
Heath and Bridgman will face top seed Cason Littlejohn and Cade Rowland of Caldwell County in Wednesday’s semifinals. Littlejohn and Rowland defeated Webster County’s Trigo Torres and Evan Davis 6-4, 6-0 in the opener, and were victorious over Carson Troxel and Caden Jenkins of Henderson County 6-2, 7-5 in the quarterfinals.
Also advancing to the semifinals were Carson Weiss and Chaz Audas of Henderson County. After a 6-0, 6-0 win over Webster County’s Maddox Hibbs and Rex Whitsell, they upset three-seed Jagger Byrum and Cohl Hoard of Hopkins County Central 6-1, 1-6, 10-4 in the quarterfinals.
Madisonville will be looking for its first boys doubles title at region since 2018, while Henderson County hasn’t had a region doubles champion since 2014. Caldwell County won a doubles title two years ago.
The semifinals and championship will be played Wednesday afternoon at Henderson County High School.
