Blazers Drop 7-5 Road Decision at Franklin-Simpson

Franklin-Simpson broke a 5-5 tie with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Wildcats took a 7-5 home field win Thursday evening over the University Heights Academy Blazers. The loss ended a two-game winning streak for the Blazers.

Franklin-Simpson scored two runs in the bottom of the first to take the early lead. UHA pulled even in the top of the second on a two-run single off the bat of Courtland Gibson.

The Wildcats came back with a run in the bottom half of the inning to go back in front 3-2.

Courtland Gibson came up with another RBI single to tie the game at 3-3 in the top of the fourth.

The Blazers took the lead for the first time in the game with two more runs in the top of the fifth. Eli Finch and Jackson Flynn had the big hits in the inning.

Franklin-Simpson evened things up with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Wildcats then moved back into the lead in the bottom of the sixth, scoring two runs after they had loaded the bases on two walks and a hit batter.

Courtland Gibson led UHA, going 2-3 with 3 RBIs. Hayden Hunt, Eli Finch, Jaiden Miles, and Jackson Flynn added one hit each for the Blazers.

Three different Blazer pitchers went two innings each in the game.

For the night, the Wildcats outhit the Blazers 10 to 6. The Blazers did not help themselves in the field with three errors which allowed Franklin-Simpson to score three unearned runs.
